Tigers jump to No. 16 in latest AP poll

Top target Ace Bailey commits to Rutgers

The Auburn Tigers are one week away from setting a new program record for consecutive weeks ranked in the AP poll.

The Tigers jumped up five spots to No. 16 in the latest edition of the poll and have now been ranked in 30 consecutive weeks. This ties the 30 weeks they were ranked from Dec. 14, 1998, to Feb. 29, 2000.

They are currently riding a three-game win streak and won both of their games since last week’s poll to improve to 14-3 overall and 4-1 in SEC play. They took down Ole Miss 82-73 on the road Tuesday and beat Mississippi State 69-63 in Neville Arena Saturday night.

Auburn is one of four SEC teams ranked in this week’s AP poll, joining No. 4 Alabama, No. 9 Tennessee, and No. 25 Arkansas. Texas A&M and Missouri received votes but not enough to crack the top 25 teams.

The Tigers will have a chance to break the program record with two road games this week. They will face LSU (12-5, 1-4 SEC) on Wednesday and South Carolina (8-9, 1-3) on Saturday.
