Tar Heels climb back into the top 20

The North Carolina women’s basketball team has climbed up five spots in the latest Associated Presses Top 25 poll.

UNC ranks 17th in this week’s AP Poll, a significant jump after a week of notable wins. North Carolina is riding a three-game win streak, knocking off ranked teams Notre Dame and NC State in that span.

The biggest key to success for UNC during the streak has been their depth, with a different player having a breakout performance each night. Paulina Paris dropped her season high 16-points in the win over Notre Dame and Kennedy Todd-Williams’s 15-points led the Tar Heels past NC State.

North Carolina’s path continues with another significant challenge affecting the following week’s rankings. They host ACC first-place leader No. 13 Duke on Tuesday, January 19th.

A win would give UNC a major boost in the rankings, and with some easier opponents on the horizon, their win streak could reach double digits before another notable challenge.
