The UNC basketball program landed another big recruit for the 2024 class on Monday afternoon as five-star guard Ian Jackson verbally committed.
With Jackson picking UNC over Kentucky, the Tar Heels now have four recruits for the 2024 class, giving them the top class early on in the cycle.
But Jackson’s commitment also made a little history. He becomes the second-highest-ranked recruit on the 247Sports recruiting rankings to commit to UNC in program history. He passed Cole Anthony for that title and is behind only Harrison Barnes.
Jackson’s 0.9995 score is behind Barnes who scored 0.9999 overall in the rankings as the No. 1 recruit in the class. At the time of the commitment, Jackson is ranked No. 2 overall in the 2024 class but the No. 1 player at his position and in the state of New York.
There’s a while before the four players in the 2024 class get to Chapel Hill but Hubert Davis has one heck of a class with room to add at least one more.
And that’s a great thing for the Tar Heels moving forward.
