NC State guard takes shot at UNC and Duke basketball programs

Saturday is filled with action all over college basketball including the Atlantic Coast Conference with some big matchups.

Among those games was a rising NC State team hosting a ranked Miami team for a matinee. And the game lived up to the expectations. Miami rallied to force overtime on the road but in the end, NC State was just too much, picking up another win and moving to 14-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

A big reason for NC State’s success not only recently but all season long is guard Terquavion Smith. The sophomore scored 20 points to lead the Wolfpack but it’s what he said after the game that was interesting.

Smith talked to reporters and had a comment about North Carolina and Duke, taking a shot at both programs in the process. Here is what he said via Carolina Blitz:

“I feel like other colleges in NC feel like they’re better than us because they wear blue, but I just want people to know that you can come here too…They do the same stuff we do, they just have different courses.”

Alright!

Smith is full of confidence, as he should be. He’s been one of the best players in the ACC this year and has the Wolfpack with a winning record. This isn’t the first time he’s talked with confidence about a Blue Blood, either. After the win over Duke, he said he took the game personally because the Blue Devils didn’t recruit him.

UNC and Duke shouldn’t take this personally either as trash talk makes the games more fun. Heck, we saw Drake Maye say something in 2022 that was directed at the Wolfpack too.

But if Smith and the Wolfpack come up short next week in Chapel Hill, you better bet a response from the Tar Heels is coming.
