Scoot Henderson neared a triple-double with the Ignite

Nikola Jovic returns to Miami for back examination

Scoot Henderson filled the stat sheet and flirted with a triple-double on Friday to help lead the NBA G League Ignite to a win over the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Henderson produced 21 points, a team-high nine assists, seven rebounds and one steal in the 136-115 win at The Dollar Loan Center. He finished by shooting 8-of-18 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line in 32 minutes.

The 18-year-old scored in a variety of ways in the contest from getting into the paint and finishing at the rim to pulling up from the midrange. He also threw down another highlight-reel dunk after driving the length of the floor and jamming it in.

The contest was Henderson’s fifth back in the lineup after missing 11 games due to a concussion and nasal fracture. He has shown no signs of any lingering effects of those injuries and is averaging 19.8 points, seven assists and 5.4 rebounds since returning.

The 6-foot-2 guard is projected to be the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft this year behind French center Victor Wembanyama. He has been electric on the court this season and is highly touted for his ability to score from virtually all over the court, as was the case on Friday.

Henderson is averaging 20.5 points, 6.4 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals on 40% shooting from 3-point range in 11 games. He is 27th in the G League in scoring and dished out a season-high 16 assists on Nov. 12 versus Santa Cruz.
