Tar Heels land big four-star center in 2024 class

Tar Heels land commitment from 2024 five-star PG

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program strike again.

Just under a week since landing five-star guard Elliot Cadeau, Davis and his staff have reeled in another recruit. Four-star center James Brown has verbally committed to North Carolina, he announced on Monday night just days after Davis and Sean May were in to see the talented big man play at a tournament in Illinois.

The 6-foot-9, 210-pound Brown is ranked as a top 30 player overall, the No. 6 center in the class and the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He’s the third player to commit to UNC in the 2024 class.

The talented center picked UNC over offers from Illinois, Duke, Florida, Indiana and Michigan State among others.

Brown now joins Cadeau and rising forward Drake Powell as UNC’s 2024 commitments, a class that is No. 1 early on in the cycle. And UNC might not be done just yet as they have their eyes on other big recruits as well.

The 2024 class could be a game-changer for Davis and his staff and turn over to a new era of Carolina Basketball. If they keep this momentum up, it should be a top 5 class when it’s all said and done.
