Tar Heels fall out of AP Top 25 poll

Hubert Davis says UNC basketball will ‘always have a presence’ at MSG

The UNC Basketball program’s stay in the Associated Press Top 25 poll was short-lived.

Just a week after UNC returned to the poll, they are back out after losing on the road to Pitt on Friday. The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the poll’s preseason No. 1 and they are on the outside looking in again.

With the 9-5 record, UNC has the most losses ever by a preseason No. 1 by January, setting a mark that no team wants to claim.  But UNC wasn’t the only Blue Blood out of the polls this week.

Kentucky joined North Carolina in the unranked section as well. The Wildcats received 53 votes while UNC received 0.

As for the ACC, the conference has three teams ranked with Virginia leading the way at No. 11 followed by No. 12 Miami and No. 16 Duke.
