Purdue Falls to #20 Maryland at the Buzzer

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Shyanne Sellers hit a 3-pointer as time expired to lift No. 20/21 Maryland to a 77-74 win over Purdue in Mackey Arena on Thursday night. The loss dropped Purdue to 8-2 on the year, 1-1 in Big Ten play, and snapped a three-game winning streak.

In a game that featured nine lead changes and five ties, Purdue shot 55.3% from the field and knocked down seven 3-pointers. Maryland (8-3, 1-1) notched a 41.7% shooting clip and connected on 10 long-range shots.

Abbey Ellis paced the Boilermakers off the bench with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Lasha Petree kept her streak of double-digit games alive with 14 points. The fifth-year senior has scored in double figures in every game this season.

Cassidy Hardin went 3-for-6 from behind the arc to tally 11 points, and Caitlyn Harper chipped in 10 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the floor.

Maryland, likewise, put four players in double figures, paced by Abbey Meyers’ 19 points off the bench.

While Purdue notched its fifth game with a shooting percentage above 50%, turnovers allowed the Terrapins to stay in the game. Purdue committed 22 on the tight, which turned into 25 points for the visitors.
