IUPUI DEFEATS MILWAUKEE TO EARN FIRST #HLWBB WIN, 64-55

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women’s basketball team defeated Milwaukee in the Jungle on Monday night to earn their first #HLWBB win of the season, 64-55. Three Jags scored in double figures with Jazmyn Turner leading the way in her first game back with 18 points.
 
Milwaukee (3-5, 1-1 HL) took an early 11-2 lead to start off the first quarter. The Jags quickly recovered closing the gap and taking the lead with a three from Natalie Andersen with two seconds left in the first. IUPUI extended their lead to 35-27 heading into the half.
 
After the half, the Jags kept their foot on the gas, taking their largest lead of the game at 52-37 to start the fourth quarter. Despite comeback efforts from the Panthers late in the fourth quarter, IUPUI held on for a 64-55 final score.
 
After missing a game, Turner came back on top as the leading scorer for the Jags shooting 63.6 percent (7-for-11) from the floor, totaling 18 points with four rebounds. Destiny Perkins followed with 15 points and three assists. Andersen added 11 points and seven rebounds with three steals while Rachel Kent led the team in rebounds with eight.
 
IUPUI shot 43.1 percent from the floor while holding Milwaukee to just 35.0 percent. The Jags totaled 10 steals.
 
The women’s team improved their record to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League and will next travel to Muncie to face in-state foe, Ball State on Thursday, December 8 with tip off at 6:30 PM.
