FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist women’s basketball welcomed Warren Wilson College to the March F. Riddle Center on Saturday afternoon. From the opening tip-off, the Monarchs controlled the game on their way to a 103-43 victory over the Owls in this non-conference matchup.
It has been a little over 23 years since the last time Methodist has scored over 100 in a contest. You have to go back to November 23, 1999, when the Monarchs defeated Peace College (now William Peace Univ.) on the road 105-67.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jessica Drake got the scoring going for Methodist by knocking down two consecutive three-pointers. After Catherine Causby scored the first basket for Warren Wilson, the Monarchs registered the next six points to make it 12-2. The Owls would actually outscore Methodist, 10-9, in the final four minutes of the opening quarter.
- The first three made buckets for the Monarchs in the second period were from behind the arc by Jillian Peterson and Melissa D’Oleo. An 11-0 run by Methodist late in the second extended it to a 45-21 advantage. Lyrec Evans stopped Warren Wilson’s scoring drought with a three and another three by Autumn Fritz was the final basket by the Owls in the first half.
