Florida State's Latson Sweeps ACC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – For the second consecutive week, Florida State guard Ta’Niya Latson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel.

Latson averaged a league-best 26.5 points per game and shot over 57 percent from the field to lead the Seminoles to a pair of key nonconference wins over rival Florida and Houston last week. She becomes the first player ever to sweep the ACC Player and Rookie awards twice in the same season.

On Wednesday, the guard dropped in a game-high 32 points, connected on 8-of-9 from the free throw line and pulled down five rebounds in Florida State’s 92-77 victory over the Gators. She scored 18 of her 32 points in the second half, headlined by a 7-for-10 mark from the field.

In FSU’s overtime win at Houston last Saturday, the Miami, Florida, native, scored a game-high 21 points, 14 coming in the second half, and connected on a pair of 3-pointers to lead the Seminoles to victory.

Latson is currently tied for the nation lead in total points with 134 and leads all freshmen with 26.8 points per contest.
