Syracuse (1-1) was defeated by Colgate (3-1), 80-68, inside the JMA Wireless Dome on Tuesday night.

Four Orange performers put up double digits – Led by freshman guard Judah Mintz with 20 points, sophomore forward Benny Williams followed with 17, senior guard Joseph Girard III (14) and senior center Jesse Edwards (10) each topped 10 points.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED
The Raiders took off on a 20-14 run over the Orange to cement a 44-30 lead going into the break. Within the first frame, Williams and Girard each put up nine points to keep the Orange in within distance, but were never able to jump in front for the remainder of the matchup.

COACH BOEHEIM SAID
“We had no chance to play them man-to-man,” said head coach Jim Boeheim. “That was pretty obvious from the beginning. We adjusted, we were ok after that. But, for this game, our defense wasn’t as bad as our offense. Our offense was horrendous.”

SHORT LIVED LEAD
Mintz gave the Orange their first and only lead of the matchup by hitting a jumper just nine seconds into the start of the contest. Mintz secured Syracuse’s first and only lead, encompassing the opening two minutes of action.

HOT FROM DEEP
Colgate came out shooting hot in the first frame, as the visitors nailed a .524 clip from beyond the arc, making a total 11 buckets from long range. Senior guard Tucker Richardson led the Colgate charge by making 5-of-7 shots from beyond the arc by halftime.
