Evan Fournier On Being Benched: It Is What It Is

Evan Fournier has seen a lot in his 11-year career. That’s helped him take being moved to the bench in stride.

Fournier was initially replaced in the New York Knicks starting lineup by Quentin Grimes two games ago. With Grimes out on Saturday due to injury, Fournier stayed on the bench with Cam Reddish drawing the start.

“It is what it is. I’m in Year 11. So, I know a lot of things can happen,” Fournier said after the initial benching. “We see it every year. Last year with Kemba (Walker). So, I’m going to do the best with what I have, try to impact winning and be a good teammate. That’s all you can ask for. Just do my best. Be a pro and take it from there…By doing your job.”

Fournier said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau doesn’t have to justify his decision to change the starting lineup.

“He doesn’t need to explain himself. He made a decision,” Fournier said of Thibodeau. “We’re a team and have to move forward.”
