Five in Double Figures as Michigan State Pulls Away from Grand Valley State, 73-56

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State had all five starters score in double figures and used a big second half en route to a 73-56 win over Grand Valley State in an exhibition game on Tuesday night at the Breslin Center.

Senior forward Malik Hall scored 15 points, had three rebounds and two assists to lead the way, while junior guard A.J. Hoggard scored 14 points, handed out five assists and had four steals.

Junior center Mady Sissoko finished with 11 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots, while senior guard Tyson Walker had 12 points, four assists and six steals and graduate Joey Hauser added 10 points and four rebounds.

  • Michigan State trailed by five points, 36-31, at halftime, but limited Grand Valley State to 16 points over the first 16 minutes of the second half to pull away.
  • The Lakers held a 40-37 lead at the 16:51 mark after a jumper from Luke Toliver, but the Spartans responded with a 10-0 run and took a 47-40 lead on a layup from freshman forward Jaxon Kohler with 14:31 to play.
