Two-year NBA veteran Sam Merrill was the first overall selection at the 2022 NBA Draft. Merrill was selected the Cleveland Charge, who are the Cleveland Cavaliers G League affiliate. Merrill remains an NBA free agent and free to sign with any NBA team, despite playing for the Charge this season.
Joe Wieskamp, who played for the San Antonio Spurs last season was selected second overall by the Wisconsin Herd. The Herd are the affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Other notable players selected were rookie Jared Rhoden (College Park Skyhawks – Atlanta Hawks), three-year NBA veteran Rashad Vaughn (Cleveland Charge – Cleveland Cavaliers) and six-year NBA veteran Norris Cole (Grand Rapids Gold – Denver Nuggets).
