New Boston Celtics reserve point guard Malcolm Brogdon reached out to Jaylen Brown during Kevin Durant trade request saga

New Boston Celtics reserve point guard Malcolm Brogdon reached out to Jaylen Brown during Kevin Durant trade request saga

According to new Boston Celtics floor general Malcolm Brogdon, his friend and now teammate Jaylen Brown “is not a guy that needs pep talks.” Even so, the former Indiana Pacers point guard shared with the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach that he reached out to Brown just to check in with him during the heights of the rumors tying him to disgruntled Brooklyn Nets star forward Kevin Durant when there were rumbles of talks between the Nets and Celtics reportedly focused on Brown.

Those rumors have since been repeatedly downplayed by a number of persons with ties to the Celtics’ front office, but Brogdon’s call was less about the rumor and more about the person on the other end of the line.

“Like any human being, sometimes you want to be checked on to see how you’re doing, but that’s all I did with him,” he explained.

“Jaylen’s a confident guy and he understands this is part of the business as well. So he’s a pro. He’s going to come back ready for training camp and ready to work.”
