All of the attention in Brooklyn is on disgruntled former MVP Kevin Durant right this second, but a video went viral after a fan knowingly walked up to Nets’ playmaking forward Ben Simmons and mistook him for Russell Westbrook.
“Oh my God. It’s you, bro!” the fan said in the video. “Russell Westbrook, bro! Russell Westbrook, bro! Oh my God, bro!”
The fan approached the former Rookie of the Year in a store and immediately greeted him as struggling shooter Westbrook, and he did not seem pleased about it. One of Simmons’s security guards motioned for the fan to leave when the fan uttered one insult on the way out the door.
“He can’t shoot bro,” said the fan.
Simmons responded with a serious tone, “Don’t play with me, don’t play with me.”
It’s pretty apparent that the video was satirical as Simmons looks nothing like Westbrook and the players have had minimal interactions.
