Anders Carlson nominated for AFCA Good Works Team

Auburn football is entering a critical weekend but got some good news ahead of the annual Big Cat recruiting weekend.

Wilky Denaud, a four-star defensive lineman, committed to Auburn on Wednesday. He is the Tigers fifth commitment and could be the first of several commits over the next week.

That wasn’t the only exciting thing to happen around Auburn yesterday though, Anders Carlson was nominated for an award, Isaac Okoro returned home, and the equipment staff teased the shoes the football team will be wearing this season.

Catch up on all those stories and more in the Thursday edition of the Auburn Morning Rush.

Anders Carlson may have missed the Lou Groza Award watch list, but he was named a nominee for the AFCA Good Works Team. This award honors players for their impact on the field, in the community, and in the classroom.

Carlson was named to the All-SEC second-team by the media last week at SEC Media Days as he is making his return from an ACL tear suffered last season.

In his Auburn career he has made 67 of 93 field goals and is 151 of 154 on extra point attempts.

Isaac Okoro is one of the brightest spots of the Bruce Pearl tenure. He was one of the bright spots of the 2019-20 season, playing good enough in his lone season on the Plains for the Cleveland Cavaliers to take him with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 draft.

He returned to Auburn on Monday and continued to put in the work that was instrumental in his development.

The Auburn football team will be rocking some nice cleats in the upcoming season.

The Auburn Equipment tweeted out a picture of the Tigers cleat options and there is not a bad one in the bunch. While the orange and white options are perhaps the best, the white and blue ones would go very well with the Tigers white uniforms.
