Ali Hoesly Returns to Rutgers as Director of Women’s Basketball Operations

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Ali Hoesly, a Class of 2016 Rutgers graduate, Summit, New Jersey native, and former head student manager for the Rutgers women’s basketball team, has returned to her alma mater as the director of operations on Coquese Washington‘s staff. Since graduation, Hoesly has launched a career in basketball operations in the WNBA and college ranks.

“Ali is another person on our staff who adds experience of previous success with Rutgers women’s basketball,” Washington said. “Her love and passion for Rutgers University and this program is readily evident, and her operational background will be a tremendous boon for our team.”

Hoesly was the head student manager for the women’s basketball program at Rutgers from June 2014 to May 2016 for Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame coach C. Vivian Stringer. She regulated daily team operations for the director of basketball operations, coaching staff, and players while supervising and recruiting student managers and practice players for each season. Her duties also included organizing logistics of travel, game day assignments, official recruiting visits, and summer camp. She was named the program’s “Manager of the Year” in 2014-15.

“This is a surreal moment for me being back home and at my alma mater,” Hoesly said. “This is where I got my start in basketball and to be back representing a place I love in my dream role is truly amazing. I am forever grateful that Coach Stringer gave me the chance to be a manager for her during college and now I’m honored I have this opportunity to come back to work for Coquese, a phenomenal person and leader. I am looking forward to making a positive impact on the players, the program, and the Rutgers community.”

Hoesly returns home following a four-year stint as the director of operations with Pittsburgh women’s basketball, where she oversaw day-to-day operations of the program, including logistics of team practices, meals, and meetings. She was responsible for team travel while supervising the Pitt student-manager team.
