Sharife Cooper named to Hawks Summer League roster

One former Auburn Tiger will get an opportunity for more playing time in an NBA setting.

sharife cooper, who played for Auburn during the 2020-21 season, has been added to the Summer League roster for the Atlanta Hawks.

The Hawks drafted Cooper with the 48th overall selection of the 2021 draft and played in a two-way contract with Atlanta during his rookie season. With the Hawks G-League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks, Cooper averaged 17.1 points, 6.9 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game.

However, as part of the two-way contract, Cooper only played in 13 games with the Hawks last season, averaging 0.5 points per outing. Competing in the Summer League should help Cooper get valuable time in an NBA environment.

Cooper, who was rated as the No. 5 point guard for the 2020 class prior to signing at Auburn, played 12 games in his lone season at Auburn due to an ankle injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year.
