Kyrie Irving becoming more ‘willing’ to opt-out of contract with Nets

Following the Kyrie Irving and Brooklyn Nets contract talks breaking down, it seems as if the parties won’t find terms to agree on and Irving could opt-out of the rest of his contract.

Earlier today Irving was given permission to seek teams via sign-and-trade, where he has interest in six teams: The Clippers, Heat, Knicks, Lakers, Mavs and 76ers.

Bleacher Report journalist Jake Fischer reported that Irving is warming up to the idea of opting-out of his contract and signing a mid-level exception with the Lakers, with the intentions of returning.

“Sources with knowledge of the situation have increasingly believed Kyrie Irving’s willingness to opt out of Brooklyn, sign the $6M taxpayer midlevel with the Lakers, where Irving can re-sign long-term in 2023.”

As the Kyrie Irving-Brooklyn Nets talks continue to break down, Irving is seemingly becoming more irritated and nearly willing to opt-out of the final year of his contract, valued at over $36 million.
