Kyrie Irving ‘has betrayed’ Kevin Durant

Following the news that Kyrie Irving is having contract breakdowns with the Brooklyn Nets, TV personality Stephen A. Smith hasn’t shied away from voicing his opinion on the matter.

With the relationship between the front office and Irving souring, there seem to be rumors that the former NBA champion could join the Los Angeles Lakers.

Smith decided to sound off about Irving on an ESPN segment titled If Kyrie leaves, should Kevin Durant want out?. Smith says that the guard has “betrayed” superstar forward Durant.

“Kyrie has betrayed, totally betrayed. Coaxed into coming to Brooklyn , you his brother, you ride with him 1,000%, until you don’t want to, for whatever reason, and you left him hanging. Because you and I both know, you know better than me because you’re a former teammate of KD, but he ain’t trying to have no drama. Now, he might clap back on Twitter, whatever. But just like he says on his Twitter account. I’m me, I’m just trying to be chill, whatever the hell he says. The point that I’m trying to make to you is all he wants to do is play. He don’t want to deal with none of the is other stuff, but Kyrie forces him to because of his actions. I’m going to say something else, isn’t it a legitimate discussion to be made that Kyrie don’t give a damn about championships. You won one with LeBron, you could’ve won more, you left. You left because you wanted to be the leader.
