Former UNC basketball sharpshooter Danny Green is expected to return to the NBA next season.

Philadelphia 76ers wing Danny Green suffered a season-ending injury during a Game 6 loss to the Miami Heat when he tore both the ACL and LCL in his left knee.

And while injuries of that magnitude often take the better part of a year to recover from, Green, a former Tar Heel and 13-year NBA veteran, said in a recent episode of his podcastย Inside the Green Roomย that he will be back next season.

โ€œI donโ€™t want it to end this way. Iโ€™ve considered it. Some people talk to be about it, but Iโ€™m like no, this is not me.โ€ Green said. โ€œItโ€™s not how I want to end it. It just gives me motivation to get back on the court sooner than later.โ€

Green turns 35 next season and is due $10 million from the 76ers if he remains on the teamโ€™s roster on July 1, so thereโ€™s no guarantee at this point that heโ€™ll be in Philadelphia following his lengthy recovery.

He averaged 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 62 appearances this season for the 51-win 76ers. He shot 38 percent from three-point range and took over ninth place in NBA history for three-pointers made in the playoffs.

โ€œI will be back for All-Star break. You got to believe it. You heard it here first,โ€ Green said.ย
