LeBron James and Kyrie Irving were teammates for four years in Cleveland and won a championship together during that period. There were reports that there tensions between the two superstars even though the Cavaliers were successful and made it to four straight NBA Finals.

They parted ways in 2018 as James signed a deal with the Lakers and Irving went to the Celtics. The year after that LeBron was looking to bring over a second superstar to Los Angeles next to him.

According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, he tried ‘to mend fences’ with Kyrie in an attempt to convince him to join James in LA, but Irving chose Brooklyn instead. Recently the Nets superstar said that the Cavs would have more titles with him if he was more mature back then.

This resulted in the relationship going away again. “Kyrie has just been all over the place,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s This Just In. “Talking about the departure from Cleveland over the years. I really have no idea where to rate this and what he might say again in six months.

“A couple of years ago when Kyrie was headed to free agency, LeBron James was interested in trying to recruit him to the Los Angeles Lakers and he reached out and attempted to mend fences. It lasted for a short time and when Kyrie didn’t choose the Lakers, their relationship went away again.

“I will just say that two weeks before Kyrie asked for a trade LeBron expressed his desire to be with Kyrie and hand off the reins to him in a public press conference at the NBA Finals for the world’s media to hear. Kyrie came in minutes later, was asked about it and said that was exactly what he wanted in front of the world’s media on the stage right before the NBA Finals. Then two weeks later asked for a trade.”
