Xavier Pinson lists three transfer finalists

Xavier Pinson is heading to his third school during his college career after the senior decided to enter the transfer portal following his lone season at LSU.

Pinson’s recruitment in the portal has taken a few turns already. According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, it took another one on Saturday. Pinson had previously trimmed his list down to Mississippi State and Xavier, but he has since reopened his recruitment and has a new top three.

The Bulldogs remain, but the Musketeers have been replaced by Georgia Tech and New Mexico State. That means that Pinson could still be heading to his third SEC school after previously playing three seasons at Missouri.

The 6-foot-2 Chicago native averaged 13.6 points per game during his junior season at Mizzou, but his production dropped off when he came to Baton Rouge. He averaged 9.8 points and 2.4 rebounds, though he did also average a career-high 4.8 assists.

He has one remaining year of eligibility — his fifth — thanks to the relief given to players as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. After two years as a full-time starter in the SEC, he could be poised to become a major contributor for whoever he plays for next, even though his time on the bayou didn’t exactly go as hoped.
