Taylor Jenkins Says Ja Morant Getting Evaluated For Knee Injury, Adds ‘There Was A Grab’

Ja Morant, DeMar DeRozan Named NBA's Players Of The Week

Ja Morant suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter of the Memphis Grizzlies’ 142-112 Game 3 loss to the Golden State Warriors, limping off the court with over five minutes left in the game.

Morant is currently undergoing evaluation, according to Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins.

Morant suffered the injury when Jordan Poole grabbed his knee on a trap near midcourt. Poole denied any purposeful intent.

“It was a basketball play when we doubled him,” said Poole. “And I hit the ball and I was going for the ball. I mean, obviously, you don’t want to see anybody get hurt. I’m not even that type of player.”

Jenkins addressed the situation, saying that he was curious as to what happened on the play.

“I didn’t say that it went on purpose. I said the play happened. There was a grab. I’m just curious what happened,” said Jenkins.

Jaren Jackson Jr. said that the incident involving Morant and Poole was “unfortunate,” while adding “you know the code.”

Game 4 takes place on Monday.
