Jason Kidd after Game 2: "We found a way to beat ourselves there in that 4th quarter"

The Mavericks collapsed in the fourth quarter of Game 2 of the second round series against the Suns to lose the game by 20 points (129-109).

It was a six point going into the final period but instead of closing the gap, Dallas allowed Phoenix to score 40 points against theirs 26. Chris Paul was massive as he dropped 14 of his 28 points in the final 12 minutes.

β€œSix-point game I think. Eight minutes it’s anybody’s game,” Mavs head coach Jason Kidd said after the game. β€œWe had a turnover and I think that’s when we just lost our focus, we lost our connection.

β€œWe had them going into the fourth quarter it’s a six-point game. We have the ball, we turn it over, they come down and score. At that point we just lost focus.

β€œWe got to be better. And that’s no matter what time, playoffs or regular season. We got to stay together. We found a way to beat ourselves there in that 4th quarter.”
