Collin Gillespie's unlikely rise as Villanova star

This is not a vintage Villanova men’s basketball team.

Collin Gillespie is not your typical Villanova star.

Yet here the Wildcats are among the bluest of blue bloods in their third Final Four since 2016 seeking their third championship in seven years. They’re not here as outliers in arguably the most prestigious Final Four in history, but as rightful members of the distinguished semifinalists thanks to their success of the past decade.

How exactly did they get to New Orleans? Thanks in large part to a lightly recruited three-star prospect who has emerged from backing up Jalen Brunson to become one of the most accomplished players in Big East history.
