Detroit Pistons' Jerami Grant exits game vs. Washington Wizards with left calf strain

Jerami Grant exited the Detroit Pistons’ home game against the Washington Wizards on Friday with a left calf strain, and the team announced that he would not return.

It isn’t clear how the injury occurred, or if it’ll cause Grant to miss extended time.

Grant subbed out of the game with 4:30 to play in the first quarter, and the team announced he would miss the rest of the game during the second quarter. He remained on the team bench during the rest of the first half.

It’s the latest injury blow for Grant, who recently missed two games with right knee inflammation. He also missed 24 games in December and January due to a torn ligament in his right thumb, which required surgery to repair.

Before Friday’s game, the team announced that wing Hamidou Diallo, who emerged earlier this season while Grant was out, will miss the rest of this season with a finger fracture.

Grant’s injury could open up minutes for Braxton Key, who the Pistons signed to a 10-day contract on Thursday.
