Will Wade out as LSU men's basketball coach, days after NCAA sends Notice of Allegations

Will Wade is out as LSU men’s basketball coach, according to multiple reports on Saturday.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein first reported the news. Rothstein also reported that assistant Kevin Nickelberry will be LSU’s interim coach.

Wade went 108-51 as the Tigers’ coach with two NCAA Tournament appearances, and the expectation was that LSU would be in this year’s bracket. Wade’s tenure was overshadowed by an NCAA investigation into the men’s basketball program. LSU received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA’s Independent Accountability Resolution Process panel this week.

“I can’t comment on any of that stuff,” Wade said after LSU’s loss to Arkansas on Thursday in the SEC Tournament. “We haven’t been able to comment on it since everything started. I certainly look forward to commenting on it when it is all over. Until then, they won’t allow us to comment.”
