Celtics soaring, Nets sinking as teams meet in Boston

Without Paul George, Clippers carry on vs. Timberwolves

The Boston Celtics will conclude a three-game homestand Sunday afternoon when they host the Eastern Conference rival Brooklyn Nets.

The Celtics have won four of their past five following Thursday’s 120-107 win over Memphis. A 73-point second half paved the way to the victory.

On his 24th birthday, Jayson Tatum scored a team-leading 37 points — including 21 in the fourth quarter — and added five assists and six rebounds.

“(He’s) much more vocal, and then on the court he’s a bucket,” Celtics coach Ime Udoka said on ESPN’s NBA Today. “He can get 30 in his sleep. We’ve just tried to help him grow and expand his game. He’s doing all the things he naturally does, but also becoming much more of a playmaker, a leader out there and getting everybody else involved.”
