Pilots Finish Regular Season Fourth, Earn bye to Quarterfinals of WCC Tournament

SAN MATEO, Calif. – The Portland Pilots women’s basketball team has officially earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming University Credit Union West Coast Conference Tournament after finishing in the same spot in the final WCC standings. It’s the second time the Pilots have finished fourth under head coach Michael Meek and the fourth time since 2010.

The WCC determined the seedings for this year’s tournament using the Ken Pomeroy Adjusted Winning Percentage Rankings. The rankings take into account factors such as strength of schedule and road vs. home within conference play only. The WCC switched to this method due to the high number of canceled conference games. The conference also used this system last season, when teh Pilots finished sixth.
