Washington Falls To No. 2 Stanford In Gritty Conference Finale



STANFORD, Calif, — In the last conference game of the season, the Washington women’s basketball team put up a strong fight against No. 2 Stanford. The Huskies (7-15, 2-12) were in it until the very end, when the Cardinal (25-3, 16-0) ultimately pulled away winning it 63-56. 
 
The Dawgs came out hot on offense, once again, with shots falling. They led by one after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Washington continued playing lock-down defense, keeping the Cardinal offense out-of-system. Stanford, who leads the conference and is 16th in the nation in field goal average (47.1% in conference), only shot 32.5% in the first half, while Washington’s offense remained hot, shooting 50% in the first half. The Huskies led 34-32 going into the break. 
 
To start the second half, both teams continued to shoot well….
