What happened to the Brooklyn Nets?

Before Kevin Durant suffered from his MCL sprain, the Nets were second in the Eastern Conference. They managed to keep up their place in the rankings for a little while, even jumping up to first in the East at one point.

However, soon after, Brooklyn started to slowly decline in rankings. And in less than 15 days they had dropped to eighth in the conference. On January 23, the Nets took on the Minnesota Timberwolves and lost 125-136. Starting with that game, they went on a losing streak of 11.
