The NBA’s trade deadline is upon us, and these big names could be on the move

As with almost every year, a high level of interest surrounds the NBA trade deadline that hits at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday. Big names, small names, sea-changing transactions and deals around the fringes, all seem in play.

What actually transpires often falls short of rumours and pre-deadline chatter, but here are a handful of names being kicked around.

Ben Simmons

The saga of Simmons in Philadelphia has been degenerating since the last Sixers playoff loss and his departure from the team. The impetus to move him now is to get something back for the end of this season to maximize the MVP-calibre year Joel Embiid is having and to give Philly a legitimate championship shot.

James Harden

Depending on which source is talking, Harden either hates Brooklyn or he loves it. He wants to go to Philadelphia or he wants to test free agency in the summer. It’s a bit of a mess. But his somewhat declining skills, what seems to be a chronic injury issue with his hamstrings and how far things went south…
