Devils Sink Shorewomen for Pivotal Centennial Conference Win

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – First-year Clair Marion netted a season-high 16 off the bench for the Dickinson women’s basketball team as the Red Devils earned a season-split against the Washington (Md.) College Shorewomen with a 63-52 win on Saturday afternoon at Penny J. Fall Gym. 

Washington got up early on baskets from Andrea Prestianne and Serena Pluta, but then Jennifer Kremp drilled two triples to bring Dickinson level 6-6 with 6:21 to play. Karry Kelliher put the home side back on top until a jumper by Kate Montgomery sparked an 8-0 run by the Red and White to take a 14-8 lead. The Shorewomen closed to within 14-12 thanks to Joy Sanders. Clair Marion added to the three-point shooting by nailing one from downtown and Mia Kolb added a driving layup for the 19-16 edge through one. 

A Marion layup at the 13-second mark of the second would be the only bucket over the opening 3:09 until Kelliher finished at the rim to make it 21-18. Four points each by Prestianne and Sanders accounted…
