Mark Cuban says Mavericks will do all they can to keep Knicks target Jalen Brunson

With the NBA trade deadline approaching, the fate of one of the Knicks’ potential trade targets may soon be decided.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban recently spoke on Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith’s impending free agency and made it clear that he wants to bring them back.

“We will do all we can to keep (both Jalen Brunson) and Dorian (Finney-Smith),” Cuban told Sports Illustrated.

Now, how does this affect the Knicks? The Mavs floated the idea of trading Brunson to New York prior to the 2020 NBA Draft to move up in the first round. Of course, the trade didn’t happen but both sides have had additional dialogue involving Brunson since those talks two years ago and Brunson remains on the Knicks’ radar, according to SNY’s Ian Begley.

Brunson will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and if Cuban and the Mavs can’t come to a new agreement with him, then the team could be looking to shop him at the deadline, which falls on Feb. 10.
