BROOKLYN, N.Y. – LIU women’s basketball freshman Emaia O’Brien was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday. It is her fourth honor of the season.
O’Brien helped the Sharks to their first conference victory, scoring 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds in a 62-51 win over CCSU. The freshman guard then added 16 points in a 59-53 setback to borough rival St. Francis Brooklyn. O’Brien finished the week averaging 13.5 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game. This is the fourth time the Detroit, Mich. native has been named the NEC Rookie of the Week.
