Kings fined by NBA after assistant GM confronts clock operator originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
The Kings have been fined $50,000 by the NBA after assistant general manager Wes Wilcox violated league rules Wednesday night when he confronted the clock operator at Golden 1 Center during Sacramento’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Wilcox also was levied with a $15,000 fine.
Under NBA rules, team owners and executives are prohibited from interacting with scorer’s table personnel during a game.
“The incident took place during a timeout with 10:50 remaining in the third quarter of the Kingsβ 115-113 win over the Miami Heat on Jan. 2 at Golden 1 Center, when Wilcox left his seat to confront operations personnel at the scorerβs table about their handling of a clock procedure during a jump ball,” the NBA wrote in a press release. “The clock procedure at issue was, in fact, administered correctly by the shot clock operator.”
