LOGAN, Utah – Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball lost its road-opener to Utah State, 75-85, Saturday afternoon at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
The Titans (1-1) started the game on fire, getting out to an early 8-2 run to force an early timeout by Utah State (2-0) before continuing on a 20-6 run. Carolyn Gill scored six of the team’s first eight points.
Fujika Nimmo led the Titans offensively with 17 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the floor. Lily Wahinekapu added 13 points to go along with eight assists and tied for team-high six boards.
Utah State was able to cut into the Titans lead late in the first quarter and into the second to narrow Fullerton’s lead to 38-32 at halftime.
The Aggies took their first lead of the game midway through the third quarter before Gabi Vidmar hit a clutch three off a perfectly run inbound play to retake the lead for the Titans. Vidmar had 10 points off the bench with four rebounds and two assists.
